Any religious, political or sociological outlook based on doing less, and not more, for disadvantaged and underprivileged groups is morally bankrupt. Any system built on, “how can I lessen my burden?” instead of, “how can I lessen yours?” will not stand for long.
You cannot argue for cutting aid to a mother in Africa to protect her baby from ringworm in order to, and I quote, “help our people first,” while also simultaneously cutting food stamp benefits to millions of Americans because you’ve determined they don’t need it, aren’t thankful for it, or are wasting it.
The truth is you simply don’t want to help anyone and you don’t want to be bothered by their problems.
There are too many politicians being lauded for what they say they won’t do instead of what they will do. Stop giving these people a pass for refusing to solve problems and acting like that decision is anything other than cowardice.
Today’s political and societal discourse is not infuriating because it is too liberal or too conservative, too right-wing or too left-wing. It is infuriating because it is too selfish.
